Seroquel (quetiapine) - a new antipsychotic agent, synthesized by (Sweden, UK). Seroquel belongs to a group of atypical antipsychotics. The study included 8 patients (25), which as a result of 42-day receiving Seroquel 100 mg noted a significant improvement on a scale of CGI. Among these patients were 5 men and 3 women. The condition of patients by the beginning of treatment was evaluated as a therapeutic remission of the disease. All patients gave their consent to the continuation of treatment, and furthermore, these patients reported that they preferred drug Seroquel, which they were appointed earlier. Maintenance dose of Seroquel was 200 mg - 300 mg / day. Changes in the state was assessed monthly on a scale of PANSS. During the reception of exacerbations of schizophrenic symptoms Seroquel single patient was observed. None of the eight patients in the long-term therapy did not arise Seroquel side effects. An important feature that was noted by all patients is that therapy is not accompanied by an increase Seroquel weight gain, and 2 patients, it even decreased by 3-4 kg, which is probably associated with the termination of long-term receiving conventional antipsychotics.
