Vitamin A

Vitamin A was first isolated from carrots, so from the word carrot there was a name of vitamin A - carotenoids. Carotenoids found in plants, some fungi and algae, and when ingested, can turn into vitamin A. These include a, b and d-carotene, lutein, lycopene, zeaxanthin. All we know about five hundred carotenoids.
The best-known carotenoid is b-carotene. He is a provitamin of vitamin A (in the liver it is converted into vitamin A as a result of oxidative cleavage).
